20 Countries To Attend 6th World Mithai Expo In City

Kolkata: The state will host the 6th World Mithai and Namkeen Convention 2023 in Kolkata, scheduled from December 17 to 19 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan grounds off EM Bypass.
This will be the first time that the international summit is being held in eastern India by the Federation of Sweets and Namkeen Manufacturers (FSNM). “The three-day event will host 300 representatives from 20 countries, showcasing modern machinery and high-quality raw materials.
The event expects over 30,000 B2B visitors, with 5,500 industry members in attendance,” said FSNM president, Virendra Jain. Ahead of the summit, retailers voiced concerns such as inconsistent GST charges, distribution challenges and shortage of skilled labour. “Consuming rasogolla at a retail sweet shop incurs a 5% GST without input credit while the same incurs a 5% GST when consumed at home. A uniform tax practice should be established,” said FSNM director, Firoz H Naqvi.
The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat (TCGL) and India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) are jointly organizing the 14th Convention India Conclave (CIC) in preparation for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. The event will be held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of Tourism Mulubhai Bera. The conclave, with the theme “Sustainable MICE: Empowering Event Towards the $5 Trillion Economy,” aims to highlight Gujarat’s potential as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism. It will feature 300 delegates, 30 exhibitors, and 80 buyers, showcasing Gujarat’s commitment to year-round tourism and economic growth.
